In New Mexico, the Foodprints and Foodsheds Project team met with local stakeholders to introduce the concepts of foodprints and foodsheds and present the Foodprints and Foodsheds model as tools with the potential to assess dietary impacts on local food systems. Stakeholders were presented with three questions to consider as they explored the Foodprints and Foodsheds model:

  • How many people could be fed through local and regional food systems?
  • How does diet influence land requirements for food production?
  • How do land requirements influence a region’s carrying capacity?
